Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to common questions about roof repairs.

How do I find where my roof is leaking?

The damp patch inside is not always directly below the fault. Water can travel along felt, rafters and roof timbers before appearing indoors. A roof leak inspection checks tiles or slates, flashing, valleys, ridges and roof penetrations to trace the likely entry point.

Can a leaking roof be repaired without replacing the whole roof?

Often, yes. A local roof repair may be enough when the surrounding covering and structure remain sound. Widespread tile failure, degraded underlay or repeated leaks can make a larger repair or re-roof better value; BHR will explain which option fits the roof.

Is a slipped or broken roof tile an emergency?

It should be dealt with promptly because exposed underlay is not intended as long-term weather protection, and loose materials can be hazardous. After storm damage, BHR can assess the roof, make the area safe and replace or secure affected tiles and ridge sections.
